Occupational Therapy Essex is an independent occupational therapy practice based in Brentwood. We provide services for schools, parents and local authorities to support children with difficulties with functional skills, motor-skills and sensory processing difficulties.
We are a small, enthusiastic and friendly team who enjoy providing services to the children we work with. We have a great team spirit and enjoy each other’s company at work. We are always keen to hear from enthusiastic occupational therapists of any grade who are interested in joining our team. You will need a UK recognised degree level occupational therapy qualification and hold registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Sensory Integration qualifications are not necessary and opportunities for pursuing this training while working can be provided for the right applicants.

Clinic Team- Brentwood Based

We are currently looking for occupational therapists to join our clinic team to help address our growing waiting list. There are 3 roles available with a focus on different caseloads:
Experienced Children’s Occupational Therapist: The ideal applicant will have post-graduate Ayres Sensory Integration qualifications and experience assessing and working with children. The role will focus on assessment of children in clinic and at school. Following assessment, the therapist will follow these children up and provide intervention at school in line with EHCP provision or in clinic.
Junior Occupational Therapist: School based occupational performance, DCD and developmental delay. This role is suited to a therapist with some experience working with children who would like to develop their skills in caseload management and provision of intervention. A new graduate therapist with experience working with children outside of OT or during student placements would also be considered. ASI qualifications are not necessary for this role, the opportunity to study for these qualifications are available after a period in which the role.
Occupational Therapy Assistants: Supporting the OT team and managing your own caseload with supervision from a qualified OT, our assistants are an integral and valued part of the team. This role may be suitable for a newly graduated OT with no experience working with children who would like to build confidence with opportunities for progression to working as an OT within the service.
Clinic roles will be a combination of work in our clinic in Brentwood and in schools across South Essex and Havering. We have a great team spirit, manageable caseloads and opportunities for career development.
Experts at Hand Schools Team- Havering
A new, exciting project to deliver the Experts at Hand programme with Havering Local Authority has created several posts based in the Havering Area. We are looking for:
Project Lead Children’s Occupational Therapist: The ideal applicant will have post-graduate Ayres Sensory Integration qualifications and experience assessing and working with children. The role will focus on developing the Experts at Hand programme in Havering schools; this will focus on supporting schools to provide for children with high needs and arrange training for staff and parents. This new team needs an inspirational leader with some supervisory and management experience to lead the team and provide direction as the new service develops.
Salary: Band 7/8a with Outer London Allowance depending on experience
Experienced Children’s Occupational Therapists: The ideal applicants will have post-graduate Ayres Sensory Integration qualifications and experience assessing and working with children. The role will be supported by the project lead to implement the Experts at Hand programme in Havering schools; this will focus on supporting schools to provide for children with high needs and provide training for staff and parents. For candidates who do not have SI training opportunities to study may be available.
Salary: 2 posts at Band 6/7 with Outer London Allowance depending on experience
Occupational Therapy Assistants/Newly graduated OTs: Supporting the OT team and managing your own caseload with supervision from a qualified OT, our assistants are an integral and valued part of the team. This role may be suitable for a newly graduated OT with no experience working with children who would like to build confidence with opportunities for progression to working as an OT within the service. The Experts at Hand programme posts will involve working alongside the qualified OTs to follow-up the advice given and support school staff to implement activities and training. After at least a year in post, the opportunity to study on the Occupational Therapy Degree or Masters Apprenticeship may be available for the right candidates.
Salary: 4 posts at Band 4 with Outer London Allowance
